How to get credits?

As a member of the Doctoral School in Life Sciences, you are required to acquire 12 credits with a minimum of 6 credits within the Doctoral School program (and a minimum of 2 in each activity categoryTransferable skillsResearch toolsScientific activities).

 

You can acquire these credits by:

1. Registering to courses, activities, and workshops organized by:

​2. Presenting at international conferences, publishing papers as 1st author, or participating in outreach activities.

What are the 3 credit categories?

  • Transferable skills (T) competences that are transferable to other career paths than academia. 

            e.g., Scientific writing, Public speaking, Project management,  Conflict management, Stress management,

            Carreer planning, Outreach events, ect.

 

  • Research tools (R) : practical skills or specific scientific technics

           e.g., Biostatistics, Statistical  softwares, Microscopy, Sequencing, etc.

 

  • Scientific activities (S): 

            e.g., Presentations at conferences or seminars, scientific workshops (e.g., Open Science,   Agriculture,

            Animal Behaviour, etc.)

 

How to validate credits?

  • Participate in courses/ workshop
  • Get a certificate of attendance
  • Fill in and sign the External Credit Validation Form (for External courses only and presentations)
  • For poster and oral presentations, also send abstract + conference program showing the scheduled presentation
  • Send certificate + form to the Academic coordinator
 

How many credits per activity?

The credit value of a given activity is at the discretion of the Doctoral School academic coordinator. However, as a rule of thumb, one day of workshop (7h), participation to an outreach event, event organization, oral presentations, and publications as first author, are all worth one credit.
