Adulthood
Development does not stop at the end of adolescence with the biological maturity of the individual. It continues throughout the course of one’s life, together with diverse learning opportunities particularly related to new experiences and life situations faced by the person: entry into the workplace, learning a new professional skill or changing one’s profession entirely, becoming parent, travelling, moving or migrating, following an artistic passion or starting a new hobby, joining new political or charity organisations, are all occasions for individual development. We theorize the developmental processes at play, the links between learning and developing among adults, the role of imagination and art in the construction of possible future lives, ruptures and life transitions, as well as the subjective, social, and institutional dynamics that shape development or its hindrances.
