Research topics

Since 2019, I am working on different projects related to a prized edible mushroom: the morel (Morchella spp.). First, our laboratory was mandated by the Federal Office for the Environment (OFEV) to determine the invasive potential of non-native morels in Switzerland, for instance by the introduction of Chinese morel cultivars. Submitted reports can be found on the Swiss Confederation website.
Afterwards, for my master thesis (MSc), I studied mating type genes (MAT) involved in morels sexual reproduction, and briefly addressed phylogenetic classification and the species concept in Fungi. I am now pursuing my research about morels, in different research areas: phylogenetic classification, species determination, Swiss morels biodiversity, bacterial-fungal interactions (BFI), fungal melanin, culture in controlled conditions and morels pathogens. Some of this research is part of a larger project: the Bacterial-Fungal Interactions (BFI) Science Focus Area (SFA), in collaboration with the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL, USA).
